The CMA staff is small but mighty. In fact, we have just one full-time employee and two part-time employees. This is where our interns come in. Our interns are not only gaining valuable skills in a variety of areas (including marketing, event management, sales, ticketing and more!), but are also important members of the team. We couldn’t do what we do without them.
During our 2022-2023 season, we have two fantastic interns. They’ll be at many of the concerts, in the office and at other events throughout the year. Be sure to say hello when you see them!
Lizzie Murphy
Lizzie is currently a junior at Drake University. From Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, she is pursuing a public relations major and marketing minor. Lizzie is also heavily involved in the university’s music program as a flutist in the Wind Symphony. Her combined passion for the fine arts and communications compelled her to look for an internship with CMA.
Lizzie has been with CMA since May and served as the Belin Quartet Manager during their 22nd Summer Season. She is excited to further immerse herself into the world of non-profit arts as we shift into our regular concert season.
Beyond her music and CMA involvement, Lizzie is an active member of campus as both a Student Ambassador and President of Drake’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America. She also serves as Vice President of Membership for the Pi Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, the international women’s music fraternity.
Mimi Beringer
Mimi is also a junior at Drake University, majoring in Music Business and Marketing. Like Lizzie, Mimi is a member of the Drake University Wind Symphony, where she plays the tuba. She also plays bass with the Drake University Jazz I ensemble. Mimi is passionate about providing the Des Moines community with outstanding classical and jazz music through her work at CMA.
Mimi started at CMA in the spring of 2022, as one of the Belin Quartet interns working on Marketing and Patron Services for the Belin Summer Concert Series. She has continued to intern with CMA for the regular season and is excited to see so many world-class performances this year.
Outside of CMA, Mimi is the director of the Drake Bands Marketing/Media Board and an active member of the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity.
