The 21st Century Concert Experience: Engaging New Audiences thru Multimedia & Technology will feature Philip Glass, Pianist/Composer; Michael Egel, General Director of Des Moines Metro Opera, Joseph Giunta, Music Director & Conductor of the Des Moines Symphony & Academy; Dr. Jacob Harrison, Director of Orchestral Activities at Iowa State University; and Christopher Ford, Program Manager of Des Moines Music Coalition. The panel will be moderated by John Pemble, Arts and Culture Reporter at Iowa Public Radio. Iowa Public Television will be recording the discussion to broadcast at a later date.
Parking at the Des Moines Art Center will be in the lots to the East of the Art Center and along 45th Street.
Arrival to the Des Moines Art Center
If you are participating in the docent guided tours at 6 pm, please utilize the Des Moines Art Center main doors into the lobby where you will be greeted to begin your tour. Doors open at 5:45 pm.
If you are attending the panel discussion only, please utilize the Des Moines Art Center Education door, located to the south of the main doors. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Docent Guided Tours
Guests will enjoy a docent led tour of the Des Moines Art Center. If you are reserving tickets for the tour along with the panel discussion, please arrive promptly at 6:00 pm.
Seating in Levitt Auditorium
Seating in Levitt Auditorium will be general admission. We anticipate a full house, so please fill gaps between seats and please respect other patrons by not holding seats. We will have overflow seating in the alcove above the theater.
Please join us for a reception immediately following the panel discussion in the main lobby of the Des Moines Art Center. Small appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
