Chris Ford, frontman for Christopher the Conquered, will be speaking about the creative community in Des Moines at a pre-concert talk before the Max Wellman with the Belin Quartet performances on Friday, July 20th and Saturday, July 21st.
Chris Ford is a Des Moines-based artist who writes and performs music under the name Christopher the Conquered. His life-long obsession with musical theatre, film scores, and the progressive songwriting of 20th centuries pop masters such as John Lennon, Randy Newman, and Harry Nilsson has cultivated in him the desire to make music that is both beautiful and really says something. Whether writing horn arrangements for his records or composing for theatre, he is committed to speaking with his own voice. Mr. Ford also keeps himself busy with other aspects of the Iowa music community, including running Maximum Ames Records (a local label focused exclusively on artists with a connection to our state) and, as of very recently, working as an administrator for the Des Moines Music Coalition.
The talk will begin at 6:45 pm at Sheslow Auditorium on the Drake University Campus. The concert will begin immediately after at 7:30 pm. Tickets are available at www.midwestix.com.
