On Wednesday, May 17, CMA will partner with the Zenith Chamber Music Festival as Michael Klotz performs with the Belin Quartet in a stunning rendition of Mozart’s String Quintet No.3 in C Major at Noce. Join us at 5:00 PM for a concert experience unlike any other.
Michael Klotz
Born in 1978 in Rochester, NY, Michael Klotz has established an international reputation as a performer and pedagogue of the viola. Klotz made his solo debut with the Rochester Philharmonic at the age of 17 and has since then appeared as soloist with orchestra, recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestra principal worldwide. After a performance of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 with violist Roberto Diaz, the Portland Press-Herald proclaimed, “this concert squelched all viola jokes, now and forever, due to the talents of Diaz and Klotz”. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram recently proclaimed Michael Klotz to be “a superb violist, impressive, with an exceptionally attractive sound,” and the Miami Herald has consistently lauded his “burnished, glowing tone and nuanced presence.” Learn more about Michael Klotz.
The Belin Quartet
Welcoming one and all to its weekly open-air summer concerts, the Belin Quartet has been harmonizing with the Des Moines community for more than 20 years. With instrumental support from the Civic Music Association since its founding, the Belin Quartet honors the enduring legacy of David Belin (1928-1999) and Connie Belin (1930-1980). The Zenith Chamber Music Festival
The Zenith Chamber Music Festival (ZCMF) is a free annual summer concert series that brings together professional musicians from around the world, as well as local artists, to perform in diverse and unique venues in Des Moines, Iowa. The festival aims to enhance the arts in the community through innovative and diverse programming, interactive community outreach, and creative partnerships with local and regional organizations. Thanks to the support of Drake University and wonderful donors from the community, ZCMF is dedicated to making high-quality chamber music more accessible to the community and emerging student musicians.
