Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band

Civic Music Association will conclude its 2011/12 Season with Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band on Saturday, April 7 at 7:30 pm at Drake University’s Sheslow Auditorium.  A pre-concert performance featuring Salsa Des Moines will take place in Sheslow Auditorium at 6:45 pm.
About Poncho Sanchez

Poncho Sanchez is a leader in the Latin jazz world. The Mexican-American conga player, band leader, and singer has released an impressive 24 albums and won the Best Latin Jazz Album GRAMMY® in 2000. If music were about pictures, percussionist Poncho Sanchez’s music would best be described as a kaleidoscopic swirl of some of the hottest colors and brightest lights to emerge from either side of the border. At any given show, on any given record, fragments of Latin jazz, swing, bebop, salsa and other infectious grooves collide and churn in a fiery swirl, with results that are no less than dazzling.
