Over the last few years, the Civic Music Association has broadened our focus to include a stronger educational component by forming Partners in Music Education. Civic Music now provides educational opportunities to Central Iowa students through interactive workshops, master classes, and free or discounted concert tickets.
Partners in Music Education
Enriching the community though music education has been a large part of the Civic Music Association tradition and is a large part of the future goals of the organization. Each season, we contract our guest artists to conduct free educational events in the community. Students from local schools, colleges and universities as well as the general public are invited to learn from some of the greatest international touring musicians of our time. All Partners in Music Education Programs are FREE and open to the public.
Please check back in the Summer to see a list of 2010/11 Partners in Music Education Programs.
On April 16, Civic Music Association hosted a workshop with Jackie Ryan at Hoover High School. Please see the comments below:
"Thanks for your vision and efforts in making the Jackie Ryan Quartet performance/masterclass available to DMPS students! It was a marvelous experience! I attended this event with members of my Jazz Band. It was evident that all of the students in the room were absolutely captivated by Ms.Ryan’s performance, her personal story and her advice about music and life. Thanks to you for arranging this great opportunity for learning and inspiration." Steve Day, Band Director, Meredith Middle School
